Statement by Mr. K. Wangchuk from the IKKBO:
As a member of the International Karma Kagyu Buddhist Organisation (IKKBO), I feel the responsibility to clarify some of the points that had been published in various news articles in the past about the arrival of H.H. Ugyen Trinlay Dorje Karmapa in the United States in March 2008. These articles repeatedly referred to Ugyen Trinlay Dorje as the official Karmapa.

March 13 to 20, 2008: Gyalwa Karmapa gave teachings and empowerments in New Delhi

From March 13 to 20, H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa gave a week long course in the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute(KIBI), New Delhi, with teachings and empowerments. The “37 practices of a Bodhisattva” written by Ngulchu Thogme Sangpo was the topic for this course.
Professor Sempa Dorje and Khenpo Tsering have also been teaching at times during the course by H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa.

Nov. 2007: H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa and Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche in Bodh Gaya, India

This year His Holiness the 17thGyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje led the Monlam prayers for world peace and liberation for all sentient beings on Nov 10th through the 14th at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya. From all over the world people gathered to recite prayers, particularly the “King of Aspiration Prayers”, with His Holiness Karmapa, His Holiness Shamarpa and numerous other prominent Rinpoches and dignitaries from monasteries and Dharma centers of the Kagyu order throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.

In November 2005 it was possible to make new official portraits of Gyalwa Karmapa. The photos were taken in his private shrine room in Kalimpong, India.
